A Year To Live is comprised of small chapters which discuss topics and actions that the author; Stephen Levine; suggests your undertake if this was to be your last year on this planet. The discussions include topics such as preparing and practicing to die, the fear of death and dying, gratitude, reincarnation and much more.
Although this short book was well written, I found it a little hard to read at times. I think this is because I am not at the spiritual level to be able to appreciate some of the concepts. I also felt that the book is not necessarily aimed at people who literally only have one year to live. It is more targeted towards people who what to reinvigorate their lust for live and to find peace in death and dying when it does eventually happen. I wouldn’t recommend it to people that are only just starting out in mindfulness practices. However, people who have been practicing for some time and feel that they need some peace and comfort with the death and dying process may gain insight from this book.
